Edgar Winter is most well-known for his million selling instrumental song, “Frankenstein”, released in 1973 and is still a favorite on oldies radio stations today! Rolling Stone magazine lists it as one of the top 25 best rock instrumentals of all time. Edgar’s other hits include “Free Ride” and “Tobacco Road”. In the 1970’s Winter started a collaboration with Rick Derringer who would act as his producer and member of his band. Major national television and radio campaigns have used Winter’s music to advertise their products. Winter has also made frequent television appearances, both to promote his music, and to give his opinions. He has appeared on Politically Incorrect  and appeared in a commercial with George Hamilton for Miller Lite beer. He has also appeared in the film Netherworld and the TV shows The Cape, Mysterious Ways, David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Rick Derringer started his career while still in high school as a member of the The McCoys. Their best known song was “Hang On Sloopy“, which was #1 in the United States in October 1965 and is the official rock song of the state of Ohio. Derringer also recorded and played with a version of Johnny Winter‘s band called “Johnny Winter And …” and both Edgar Winter’s White Trash and The Edgar Winter Group. He played on the band’s Grammy nominated instrumental single “Frankenstein”, which topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart for a week starting in May 1973, and sold over one million copies. His solo hits were “Still alive and Well” and Teenage Love Affair”. In the 1980s, Derringer expanded his producing skills, working with “Weird Al” Yankovic, Cynde Lauper and Steeley Dan.

Big Jim Adam has been a favorite on the Colorado Springs music scene for the past twenty years. He has had two of his songs,”100 Reasons” and “Open Door Policy” recorded by Edgar Winter for the movie Netherworld. Jim recorded the background sound track music for the PBS documentary For the Love of Liberty-the Story of America’s Black Patriots and had one song “Vale of Slavery” on the sound track album. Now residing in Florida, Big Jim Adam, a former United States Marine, is the perfect opening act for “Red White & Blue New Year’s Eve 2014”.

Tickets for the event are priced $35 general admission, $60 reserved table seating with dinner and $100. for VIP which includes reserved loge seating, dinner and a “Meet and Greet”.

Concert to Celebrate the Lives of Nicholas & Ole Lingen

From Scotty Brown on Facebook: Seems like myself or the band are always the ones playing in these events but I am never the one putting on the event, but this time is different. I’ll be putting this one on and playing in it. This one is for my dear friend Nicolle T. Lingen, owner of the Pit Stop Bar and Grill, who has gone through more troubling times & sorrow than any one person should ever have to go through. Please come out and support her on February 8th. .

We have 4 great bands lined up: Live to Tell Band (former members of FIVE 13, Fallen & God’s Day Off), Swerve, Psycho X and Guild Of Ages. Live to Tell kicks things off at 2:30 and Guild Of Ages closes it at 6:30. Beyond that, who knows what might happen on stage! We do need items or services to raffle off, so anyone wanting to donate to the cause please contact me personally on my Facebook inbox. Thanks to all of you, Scotty.
