Events|

It’s almost here! Our first “house concert” in nearly two years will be August 8th at our new digs. Please join us for this exciting event. Your evening will include:

* Easy, convenient, free parking.

* Holly’s home cooked dinner.

* Warren’s original piano music.

* Warren Baker and James Stanley teaming up for more high energy, thoughtful, and humorous music.

* Open bar with additional donations going to El Porvenir (clean water project in Nicaragua).

* Tour of our 5000+ square feet of Piano Funland.

I guarantee you will enjoy the musicians as much as they enjoy each other. Although it was the first time they had even met, most people thought they had been playing together for years. The synergy is amazing.

When: Saturday August 8th
Where: 2007 Dallas St, Aurora, 80010
Times: 6:30 social hour | 7:00 music begins
Cost: $25/person includes music, dinner & drinks. Tickets are limited!

CDs will also be available for purchase.

DENVER OPEN MEDIA’S MUSIC SESSIONS PRESENTS THE FIRST FRIDAY PARKING LOT PARTY!

On the first Friday of each month, DOM hosts a community event with local performance groups, musical acts and nonprofit partners. These events are broadcast live on Comcast Channel 57 in Denver as well as streamed on DOM’s website.  Events are cablecast and streamed live in Denver Open Media’s Studio A.

Join DOM for this month’s Open Music Sessions on Friday, August 7, featuring a live musical performance by The Still Tide.

If you haven’t seen how our First Friday events have blossomed with the Open Music Sessions, in partnership with Greater Than Collective and the Westword, be sure to join us this Friday. Beyond the usual music and comedy you’ve come to expect, we’ll also be hosting a Lot Party together with large number of community partners.

The Social Enterprise Alliance will be here to promote their upcoming SEA Summit, and our friends at Denver Gives Week, will also be here to talk about their free, invaluable conference for nonprofits, August 10 – 15 in downtown Denver. If you are with a local nonprofit organization, be sure to check out both these great opportunities happening right here in Denver. We hope to see you there!

The Still Tide
Having left behind New York City’s jagged cityscape for the mountains of Denver’s skyline, indie rock trio The Still Tide has at last found a place to call home. Written and recorded in the aftermath of the move, their new EP Half Empty Rooms refracts the grit and urgency of city life through the lens of Colorado’s clean air and open space, creating a sound that occupies the liminal area between folk song and shoegaze, aspen trees and streetlights.

The Lot Party begins at 6 pm. Join us for this FREE neighborhood event, complete with food, drinks and a bouncy castle!

DOM: 700 Kalamath Street

COME SUPPORT A BENEFIT FOR RODNEY SMITH’S CHILDREN – SUNDAY, AUGUST 9th

On August 9th at 2:00 p.m., our SCOTTY BROWN & FRIENDS present a BENEFIT for RODNEY SMITH’S CHILDREN, Scotty will kick off the event with his solo act. Scott’s original band DARK RED SKY will perform a set. The guys of DRS and Psycho-X have graciously offered to leave their equipment as backline for the event – we MAY need a bass amp though for later in the day – Scotty will have his full PA set-up & ready to ROCK.

We have some special performances being planned by some of Rodney’s former bandmates (GUYS, Please contact Scotty directly to coordinate that) then a few sets where we want YOU, our STELLAR Denver music community, to join us for some fun to remember our dear friend Rodney through one of his great loves, MUSIC, while raising money for his children so when they are older they will remember the love we all shared for Rodney.

We will have several sets for full bands to do a couple songs each, then a jam set or two which is always SO fun when a bunch of you get together and decide what you want to play with a mishmash of musicians from a bunch of different bands in town after a few minutes to figure it out. (You know what I mean if you’ve been involved in or come to any of the benefits I’ve put on.) We’ve done these before and they are a complete BLAST for the musicians and the audience! With that said, whoever is interested in joining us, either full band or for the jam, PLEASE private message me and tell me which you’re interested in. If full band, please have a couple songs in mind so I can create the setlist, More details forthcoming on the jam and format – so stay tuned on that!! and remember we want multiple bands to play – the day is FULLY backlined so easy peasy….we only ask that guitarists of course bring their guitars/cables/pedals (if you want to bring your own head-bring it to plug into one of the amps available), singers bring their favorite mics if they are partial to using their own, drummers bring their cymbals/pedals/snare. Additional details will be coming out over the next week or so – please continue to watch the event and/or mine and Scotty’s and Riffs, a Rock and Roll Bar.

Huge thank you to Doug Jacobsen for allowing us to crash his regularly scheduled gig with Scotty who of course is a former bandmate of Rodney’s!

Thanks to Diane Robinson for letting us know about this.
