Alex Schachter – an aspiring musician and one of the fine students killed in last week’s shooting (From his GoFundMe page)

As we suspicioned, one of the young people killed in last week’s shooting at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School was an aspiring musician. Alexander Schachter, 14, played the trombone and baritone as part of the Eagle Regiment marching band and had hoped to continue his career in music in college. Schachter’s family stated on the page that “He was a sweetheart of a kid” and is “survived by his heartbroken parents, three siblings, grandparents and countless cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.” COMBO’s sincerest condolences go to Alex’s family. A Go Fund Me has been set up – please donate to help his family out with additional expenses and to establish a scholarship fund to keep Alex’s spirit alive: https://www.gofundme.com/55jm4g8

In an effort to continue his memory, this scholarship is being created to help other students experience the joys of music as well as fund increased security at schools.

COMBO is about the “Business of Music.” Our mission is to assist musicians with the information they need to know in order to advance their own careers! Our articles represent some phase of music business that affects musicians everywhere.
