From the Swallow Hill website: Since his return from battling leukemia Chris Daniels has been nominated for a Grammy, inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame, served as the bandleader and backup band at the aforementioned show, toured Europe 3 times – and he’s produced the second in a series of albums with his partner and former Reprise recording artist Freddi Gowdy (of Freddi Henchi & The Soulsetters).

Blues With Horns is the brand new horn-driven soul and blues CD from Chris Daniels & The Kings w Freddi Gowdy. The album’s muse was the realization that horns were missing at many of the festivals they played from South Carolina to Colorado. Comprised of new tunes like the Little Feat influenced “Sweet Memphis” with slide-guitar wizard Sonny Landreth and Subdudes keyboardist John Magnie – to Clay Kirkland (Gary Morris) harmonica and horn laced treks that take you out to a backwoods blues shack in “Fried Food/Hard Liquor.” Other gems include Johnny Guitar Watson’s, “My Baby Loves Radio”, Freddi’s “Get Up Off The Funk” and a New Orleans romp through Elvin Bishop’s “Can’t Even Do Wrong Right.”
