Note the VENUE CHANGE! Now at the Chez Artiste Theatre, 4150 East Amherst Avenue, in the University Hills Plaza, Denver, CO, 80222. While COMBO normally does not run general meetings during the summer months, this year has seen so many wonderful “music” movies hit the theaters that the board has decided we should go see one of them as a group!

This idea is a great one for networking with our fellow musicians. AND we can take advantage of a group discount.

What: Movie – David Crosby: Remember My Name (see below for description)
When: Friday, August 9th
Where: Chez Artiste Theatre, 4150 East Amherst Avenue, University Hills Plaza, Denver, CO, 80222 | 303-758-3496

Quickie directions: The theater is South of Yale Boulevard, East of Colorado Boulevard, North of Hampden! This is NOT near University Boulevard.

HOWEVER – as of this writing – there is a water main break on Colorado Blvd. that may effect a drive on CO Blvd. in that area. Be aware that you may be detoured. The streets are pretty much N&S, E&W so you should be able to just “jog” over a couple of blocks E or W and then back over to the theater area.

David Crosby: Remember My Name

A triumph at Sundance, this intimate and unforgettable collaboration between director A.J. Eaton and producer Cameron Crowe coaxes David Crosby, member of three major groups in music history (The Byrds; Crosby, Stills & Nash; and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young), into unflinching candor as the singer-songwriter confronts mortality and assesses the damage of earlier days. At the same time, his redemptive journey back to music is universally inspiring and uplifting, bearing an emotional impact that transcends the rock documentary genre. In the illuminating twilight of his days as a living legend, “Croz” has chosen living over the legend. He’s making less money but more music than ever, hitting the road despite serious health issues, surrounded by young players who have helped inspire a critically-acclaimed creative streak of fresh songs, albums, and performances. Taking viewers through soaring career highs, along with the chemical variety that led to ravaging addictions and serious prison time, David Crosby: Remember My Name explodes myths and sheds profound new light on all the music, politics and personalities that crossed his incredible—and ongoing—path.
