UCD students learning to use musical and recording equipment.

We are excited to offer three sessions of LYNX Camp programs! Sessions One and Two will feature two-week immersion programs featuring hands-on learning from recognized CU Denver faculty members and renowned guest artists. These sessions will be open to residential and commuter students.

Session Three is a new LYNX Camp format for 2017. This session will feature one-week programs that are five days long. This session won’t offer a residential component and will only be open to commuter students. Students who live outside of the Denver area will need to make arrangements to stay with a family or friend in the area or have the family visit Denver and stay in hotel during the camp.

In all sessions, the LYNX Camp class size is small to ensure individualized instruction.

The LYNX Camps are for high school students (ages 14-18) who are interested in the arts. Any student who has finished 8th grade by the start of the camp and has not yet started college is eligible to attend (we do admit students who have just completed 12th grade). Please contact us if you have any questions about eligibility.??

Session One: Music Industry Camp: June 18-30

The Music Industry program is designed to offer high school students a window into into the current state of the music industry. Students will explore many aspects of the industry including performance, singer/songwriter, music business, and recording arts. The program is designed to preview the CU Denver Music & Entertainment Industry Studies (MEIS) Department college programs. Check out this article? about our camp’s Music Industry Program in DownBeat Magazine. The songs recorded by past Music Industry Program students are available on SoundCloud here?: 2015 songs and 2016 songs

Students will have the opportunity to take two elective courses and participate in two ensembles. This summer we will offer electives in the following areas: Performance, Singer/Songwriter, Music Business and Recording Arts (audio production). The Music Industry Program is led by Academic Directors Peter Stoltzman (Facutly Area Head of Piano Performance) and Owen Kortz (faculty Area Head of the Singer/Songwriter Program). There are about 20 total music faculty members and professional musicians who teach at the camp!

We also offer many exciting ensemble options. This summer students can choose from Pop/Rock, Singer/Songwriter, Hip-Hop, Latin/Jazz, A Cappella, Mobile Device, Studio Chamber, and R&B. There will also be options for students who prefer to focus on Recording Arts or Music Business instead of being in an ensemble. The final ensembles offered at the camp will depend on student interest. Students also learn from guest artists and get to go on education field trips such as our annual visit to Red Rocks Amphitheater (the students at the 2016 camp got to attend the soundcheck for the Big Head Todd & The Monsters concert!). All students will get a chance to record a song with one of their ensembles and perform at the student showcase at the conclusion of the camp!

All students will be able to choose where to eat and buy their own lunches at the Tivoli Union Food Court. Commuter and Commuter Plus students should eat breakfast at home since this meal will not be provided.
