Jux County to appear at DOM’s First Friday Event

On the first Friday of each month, DOM hosts a community event with local performance groups, musical acts and nonprofit partners. These events are broadcast live on Comcast Channel 57 in Denver as well as streamed on DOM’s website. Events are cablecast and streamed live in Denver Open Media’s Studio A. Join us for this month’s Open Music Sessions! Right in the center of the Art District on Santa Fe, the only place to be in Denver on First Friday!

When: Friday, October 7th, 7:00 – 9:30 p.m.
Where: Open Media Foundation, 700 Kalamath Street in Denver

Featuring Live Music From Jux County and the hilarious comedy stylings of Brent Gill.

This month’s Countdown Show is dedicated to the work of Patrick Sheridan, beloved filmmaker and teacher, and gifted freelance writer. The show starts at 7:00 p.m. in our upstairs lounge, hosted by OMF Executive Director, Tony Shawcross. Colorado College is Hosting Its First Ever Scholarly Symposium Featuring Billy Joel

Colorado College is hosting “It’s Still Rock and Rock to Me: The Music and Lyrics of Billy Joel,” the first-ever scholarly symposium on the music and lyrics of the consummate singer-songwriter Billy Joel, America’s “piano man.”

This public musicology conference, to be held Oct. 7-8 on the Colorado College campus, includes approximately 30 presentations from scholars in musicology, ethnomusicology, music theory, history, comparative literature and related fields.

The keynote event of the conference is “Take the Phone off the Hook,” a live phone interview with Joel, conducted by the organizers of the symposium with questions submitted by conference presenters.
