John Macy and Macy Sound Studios have been a mainstay in the Colorado music community since the late 1970’s.  Hundreds of Colorado and national artists have passed through the doors of the several studios John has built and operated over the years, from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and Los Lobos to John Common and Danielle Ate the Sandwich.  Macy Sound Studios has always been known for their ability to meld together the latest in technology with the best in classic analog gear and a comfortable, creative environment.

We are pleased to announce the newest locations of Macy Sound Studios in the Denver area.  After spending the last few years in the studios we originally designed and built (formerly Kerr/Macy Studios and now housing Silo Studios), owner John Macy felt it was time for a change and teamed up with the Park House in Denver, adding a unique studio inside a music venue that not only allows studio recording and mixing, but has tie lines to the stage of the Park House for live recording and webcasts.  When the need became apparent for a second room, we recently acquired a space in SE Denver (ironically right across the street from our last location, with some recording history of its own), and Studio B is now ready for tracking and overdub sessions.  With a unique recording space in South Texas, strategic partners in markets such as Nashville, Memphis, Texas and California, as well as mobile and destination recording, Macy Sound Studios can fulfill any recording situation you can dream of.

Have a favorite place you like to record?  Need to record a live show?  We have complete mobile systems ready to meet any need, from a 32 channel system with a split snake for a live show, to customizing a system to fit any destination recording.

We have done live records from such venues as the Bluebird, Boulder and Gothic Theaters, to bringing custom, portable studios to an Aspen house to record the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and everything in between.

Ever want to disappear and record vocals at sea level with all that moisture laden and oxygen rich air?  Our Rockport, Texas location offers total seclusion in a house on Aransas Bay, just north of Corpus Christi.  Located right on the water, it features outstanding ambience, with guest quarters for up to six, a gourmet kitchen, and views that will inspire.

Clark Hagan is a Colorado born, Grammy award winning Producer/Engineer with a world class resume and a legendary mastery of the recording arts.

After graduating from the University of Colorado at Denver, Clark began to master his craft as a recording engineer while working with the legendary Bill Porter whose credits include artists such as Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison, and the Everly Brothers while at RCA from 1959 to 1964.

After a short stint at Allen-Martin Productions in Louisville, Kentucky, Clark moved to Nashville where his trusted relationship with Porter provided the opportunity to work with the legendary Chet Atkins.

In his time with Atkins, Clark engineered the Grammy Award Winning record in 1996 for best country instrumental and was nominated again in 1997 for a record with Atkins and Tommy Emmanuel in the same category in which he played guitar on. Clark’s success with Atkins paid off and subsequently led to work with some of Nashville’s top artists including Ray Stevens, Alison Krauss, Bryan White, and Jeffery Steele amongst others. In the highly competitive world of Nashville Clark continued to build relationships with such producers as Scott Litt, Tony Brown, Kyle Lehning, Billy Joe Walker Jr., Bill Schnee, and James William Guercio while also getting to work out of some elite studios such as Woodland Sound Studios, Quad, Omni, and Masterfonics.
