Don Messina of Brethren Fast Dies in Auto Accident

From Tommy Nuhulu: Consumed by a deep and numbing sadness, as another brother in music leaves a tightly woven community in Denver. The brothers Messina were hard driving rockers who touched so many of us as Denver’s own Brethren Fast. Well loved, both on stage and off. My heart goes out to Mik, as heartbroken family and friends say farewell to our Dynomite Don.

From Herman’s Hideaway: All of us here at Herman’s are heartbroken to hear that Dynomite Don, one of our all time favorite musicians has passed away. Our hearts go out to his family and his brother Mik the stick. RIP and love always for the many, many nights our walls were shaking from so much fun and dancing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jujt4rMpRuI

From Chris Dellinger: Man…. Such another sad day for the Denver Music Family. Rest in Peace Brethren Don. So many years of entertainment and joy brought to so many of us with Brethren Fast. I have so many fond memories of Don and company yanking me out of the crowd to come up and do some kind of ridiculously long and awesome freestyle jam. It is sad as we get older we lose touch with those that were so close to us when we were younger. Then something like happens and you realize how precious and short life really is. Many prayers and condolences to his wife and baby and the rest of the family.

(COMBO’s treasurer David Barber has posted many photos of Don Messina on Facebook. David  also is owner and editor of http://www.rockoncolorado.com Thank you, David, for sharing all the wonderful pictures of Don in action).
