Blake Eberhard sings praises to his late friend Mark Bradford

From Blake Eberhard: R.I.P. to my friend and colleague Mark Bradford. Mark hired me for many of his albums and his commercial parody work, as well as his own concerts and house parties. We performed together on well over 150 gigs for Moment’s Notice Entertainment, and our harmonies were very smooth thanks to Mark’s ear for parts. He also enabled me to be part of the Broncos’ ’12th Man Band’ where we performed at the Broncos’ rallies and Superbowl victory celebrations downtown, some of my favorite gigs of all time. I will miss you Mark. Thank you for your gentle manner, and for your friendship and support throughout our relationship!

Dave DeMichelis: As many of you in the Denver musical community know, Mark Bradford has passed on to a better place. I had a number of chances to visit and even perform with Mark over the past couple of years since he was diagnosed. He was a man at peace with himself and his life.

I first met Mark when he was auditioning for Moments Notice back in the late 80’s. What I soon learned about Mark was that he took the work seriously. He always was a true professional on every gig – My Kind Of Guy!. Prepared, on time, polite to all – skills not every musician brings to a party. And he had a great sense of humor which is kind of a necessity on a lot of uptight high end wedding gigs…

Mark and I were very different people but we bonded thru our mutual music nerdiness. He knew that I liked making set lists. He brought a couple of great mash-up ideas to the gigs that I will always remember him by. His signature one was superimposing The Love Boat on top of YMCA. Another was finding a way to superimpose Cherry Cherry, On The Dark Side and R.O.C.K. in the USA on top of The Romantics “What I like About You”. Really brilliant stuff there, Mark….

I’m a bit annoyed that I can’t seem to find any pictures of me and Mark together. I’m sure in time I will. The one I really want to find is a capture from the New Society promo video of Mark singing in his White ‘Captain Stuebing’ hat.

Mark has sailed away on the Love Boat to an exciting and new place. I’m sure that when the rest of us get there, Mark will welcome us back aboard. May the four winds blow you safely home my friend…
