Interesting Bits|

From Christian Blockinger on Fb, 2/07/17: Today a friend in the music community asked me to come to his show. I said I couldn’t – I have prior commitments to support another friend’s band. He said “Fuck them.. they suck, come to our show, I’d do it for you” (with a smile on his face). Then I said, “You know, when have you ever come to one of my shows? … you never have. I try and go out and support local music whenever I am not playing… do you?” (his smile disappeared).

To all those out there that have a band, honestly think about how many of your friends’ bands have you gone and seen? My band has been playing shows for 15 years and I know I have never seen 99% of the musicians I know ever show their face. Whenever I see someone I know, I smile and make sure I go say ‘hi’ and thank them. SUPPORT LOCAL MUSIC works both ways, fellow artists.

When it comes to the Denver/Boulder/Colorado Scene… been there, done that (Christian, no one knows better than you). I tried my best and had some spectacular artists on my roster and busted my tail to help make it work, but Colorado just had NO vision or loyalty, etc.

But I’ll stop there or I’ll piss off what’s left of yuz!

To that end, do ANY of you know who Wild Blooms were? I once had a club owner (that you all know and love) tell me that he couldn’t have them open for his other bands because no one could follow them. WTF kind of answer is that!

And that’s just one of my artists.

I’ve dealt with the same ‘Common Clay’ attitude in Portland for years too… it’s why I’m now in Bend…. and watch out for Boise.

In NJ and Seattle and LA, EVERYONE supported each other and it was a joy.

Okay, now I’ve really pissed you off.

GOOD! YOU DESERVE IT!!!!
