Chris Manua and the Varsity West High School Choir

From Chris Manua’s Facebook post on Fb., 3/27/18: My Carnegie Hall conducting debut last night was one of the biggest highlights of my life.Varsity West got to perform a solo concert set for a sold out audience of 2,800 and the kiddos brought down the house!!! I have never seen them sing with more heart, emotion, freedom, and passion. In addition, 133 of our students sang in a festival chorus with the AMAZING Jeffrey Benson! Their performance was beautiful and Dr. Benson is one of the finest clinicians I’ve had the privilege of seeing work.

Another highlight was singing Jake Runestad’s ‘Let My Love be Heard at Ground Zero’. Since my students don’t remember the event, being at the memorial was the first time many of them had to process the emotion of the event. Singing at St. Patrick’s Cathedral was also incredibly memorable. It’s so great to see the kiddos experience beauty in new places.

Thank you to Lindsey Marie, Stephanie Noon Bashford, Leslie Crosby, Ryan Stadler, Aleisha Pfaff Maunu, Emily Keelan (amazing playing by her as well), and Esther and Steve Terpenning for helping to keep all of these students in line! And to Lisa Backus for making the trip from Connecticut to attend and take so many amazing pictures. Thank you also to the community from Colorado for coming out to support the choir! Now to officially begin spring break and REST!
