Parker’s Kristi Hoopes, Winner of the Colorado State Country Showdown]

The Body Keepers movie was made entirely here in Colorado. The writers, producers actors, musical artists are all from Colorado. Kristi filmed this movie about two summers ago. Being that it is an indie film, it had its challenges getting financed. The plot line is loosely based on the true story of Bredo Morstol, who is frozen in a state of suspended animation and housed in a Tuff Shed on dry ice high above Nederland. They actually did quite a bit of the filming up there also. Kristi plays herself in the movie as a singer and got to film those scenes at the historic Pioneer Inn . . . with its iconic walls lined with signed 8×10’s from guys that played there like Chicago, Billy Joel, Dan Fogelberg, Stephen Stills (Kristi’s favorite) and so many others. They all came to play and have a beer here after recording with Jim Guerico at the Caribou Ranch Studio back in the day. Kristi was in heaven filming there! Anyway the premiere for the film is this Saturday with two shows at 7:00 & 9:00 p.m. They are having an after party for the cast and family at Louie’s after the second showing. They’ve asked Kristi to play at the party; songs she did in the movie and whatever else she wants to do.

Kristi did most of the spooky voiceover that you hear in the novice also. There’s more info here: http://www.bodykeepersthemovie.com/

The premier of the horror movie, Body Keepers is premiering at the AMC Promenade in Westminster.

Country Showdown Picks SW Regional Winner “Skyline Drive” from Utah

Held at the historic Shuler Theater in Raton, NM last Saturday night, six winning acts from the SW area of the United States competed for a chance to go to the national show at the Ryman Theater in Nashville. Winner of the Raton show got an all expense paid trip to Nashville in order to compete there. That show will be televised later in 2017. The winner of that show then will receive $100,000 in cash and prizes, a chance to appear on other television shows, and an audition for a national record company!

Competing were Colorado’s Kristi Hoopes (we were cheering her on!), representing KCRT – Trinidad; Joseph Dissmore, KHCM – Honolulu; Keeira Lyn Ford and Skyline Drive – both representing KRJC – Elko, Nevada; J’Rose – Highway Radio, NV; and Savannah Burrows, KHST – Santa Clarita, CA. The show’s main sponsor was Phil Long Ford of Raton. We want to thank them very much for supporting this wonderful contest.

Skyline Drive is made up of two brothers, Ross and Luc Christensen. Although they both grew up with a love of music, they only started playing together in the past year. Luc is self-taught on the guitar and has been playing for 5 years. He had limited singing experience until he joined the high school choir as a sophomore and he has been performing since then. Luc has written well over a dozen original songs since he started playing the guitar. When Luc is not playing guitar or writing songs, you can find him either playing baseball or on the mountain hunting.

Ross has been playing percussion for the past 15 years. He took up playing the cajon in January 2015. He has decided to spread his love of music by becoming a music teacher. He has been teaching private percussion lessons for 7 years and has recently become a band teacher at the local middle school. When Ross is not drumming or teaching you can find him fishing.
