COMBO BUSINESS MEMBER EVERGROOVE STUDIO HAS BEEN VERY BUSY THIS YEAR!

Where did the time go?? We haven’t caught up in awhile… How has everyone been? We have been doing pretty groovy ourselves. In fact, so much has been going on that it’s a little difficult to comprehend, but we will try to outline some of the highlights in this newsletter. We thank you very much for being a part of the Evergroove Family, and look forward to seeing all of you as soon as possible!

Evergroove turns 9!! Party Time!!!
It’s that time of year again! August 8th at Noon! We had better be inundated by lots of groovy people… or who will drink all the beer? We are seeking donations for another raffle to raise money for the Evergreen Volunteer Fire Department. Contact us to donate!!

We provide beer and grillables. You bring sides, desserts, beverages, groovy friends, instruments, singing voices, dancing shoes (or bare feet!), tent, and/or sleepover goods.

And yes we will have an open mic! And a dance floor (at least a rug)!

Save the date and stay tuned for more details!!

Academics First
Evergroove expanded their knowledge of all things audio into the world this spring, with the very first Evergroove Academy of Recording (EAR) talks and workshops. Alan Evans of Soulive led five students through the ins and outs of old school live recording for four days, while Brad educated folks at Mutiny Information Cafe about crowdsourcing and recording project basics. We have some very exciting plans underway for the fall, winter, and spring. Stay tuned! (That is a tip for your recording projects, by the way…)

Now Playing Series
Evergroove Studio, Black Shirt Brewing, and Denver Film Company have been teaming up to bring the Colorado Public Television audience, and the world at large, a series of live recording videos for your enjoyment! Check out the You Tube channel for videos with Josh Dillard, Covenhoven, Haunted Windchimes, and more!

And When We Are Actually Working…
Sometimes we do have to work around here. Parties and festivals and broadcasts are all fine and good, but truth be told – Brad still needs to get paid. So in our not-so-spare time, we have been working with a few astoundingly talented folks… not a bad day job!
Here are some of the folks we have worked with so far this year…

•    Michael Aldridge
•    The Primary
•    Wayland

GLEE’S DARREN CRISS SCORES EMMY NOD FOR HIS ORIGINAL SONG!

The 67th Emmy Award nominations were announced earlier today (July 16th) and Glee star Darren Criss got what we’re guessing was the shock of his life once he realized that he’d been nominated in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category!

In case you forgot, allow us to take this opportunity to remind you that Darren wrote an original song called “This Time” for the Glee series finale back in March. The ballad — which the Academy liked enough to nominate for an Emmy — was one of the last songs Lea Michele’s Rachel sang on the series. [Check out below article for a video of the performance.]

Check out Darren’s sweet reaction to his nomination: Can’t believe I got nominated for an Emmy! TY @MrRPMurphy @AdamAnders @alxanders @msleamichele @bradbuecker for bringing “This Time” to life!

Before the Glee series finale in March, Darren opened up to Entertainment Weekly about what inspired him to write a song for the FOX show. “I wrote ‘This Time’ as a love note to all things Glee. The show itself, the emotions of the people leaving it — both the characters and the actors themselves, the effect it had on everyone — I tried to cram all these ideas into a single person’s narrative,” he explained. “I wanted Rachel’s words to encapsulate not only her own personal journey, but everyone’s experience of being a part of this show — whether you were behind the camera, in front of the camera, or watching it at home for these past few years.”

Having a powerhouse like Lea singing words that he’d written was pretty awesome, too. “Hearing Lea sing this song was a really cathartic moment for me,” he added. “I hope ‘This Time’ will resonate with as many people watching Glee as it did for me and those of us who had a hand in making it.”

Not surprisingly, Lea was thrilled for her Emmy-nominated pal:

‘GLEE’ SERIES FINALE GRABS EMMY NOD FOR TEARFUL GOODBYE ANTHEM

Lea Michele as Rachel Berry gave ‘Glee’ the send-off it deserved with a moving performance of “This Time,” written and composed by castmate [Darren Criss]. The song served as the series finale’s original goodbye anthem. In that “Dreams Come True” episode, Rachel sees a plaque with Finn Hudson’s face on it (cue tears). Finn died on Glee after actor Cory Monteith (who played Finn) died in real life. Monteith and Michele were a couple onscreen and off screen. On Thursday, Criss earned an Emmy nomination for “This Time” in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category.
