Monday night on “The Voice,” gospel/soul singer Kyla Jade represented Team Blake Shelton during the live Top 11 episode of Season 14. America’s song choice for Kyla was Aretha Franklin‘s “Sweet Sweet Baby (Since You’ve Been Gone),” which Blake told her proves that the viewers have faith in her ability to belt out a big tune. Do YOU think that Kyla will advance to the next round on NBC’s reality TV singing competition? Watch “The Voice” performance video above.

Following Kyla’s impressive performance, both Alicia Keys and Kelly Clarkson expressed dismay that she was on Team Blake instead of their own teams. A wowed Blake got the final word, stating, “I gotta say, you have gone from being afraid to step out of the background, to being comfortable standing in the front of the stage, to now dominating this show this season.”

Kyla’s other performances on “The Voice” so far have included “See Saw,” “One Last Time,” “You Don’t Own Me,” “How Great Thou Art” and “One Night Only.” How does “Sweet Sweet Baby” stack up to her other songs? Let us know down in the comments section.

In his recap of “The Voice,” our live-blogger John Benutty summarized, “I love love love this choice for Kyla because it gave her a chance to be livelier than just belting out a ballad. Big voices like Kyla’s can do more than hold long notes, and tonight she showed us that there is flavor, energy and electricity in her talent. No shade to the other artists before her, but Kyla’s performance woke the audience up!”
