For many years, Making Music Magazine was kind enough to provide COMBO with free copies of its issues which offered so much information that was pertinent to musicians. But as with so many print publications, the magazine decided to suspend its paper hard-copy magazines. COMBO does encourage you to sign up for the magazine as it is one of the best for articles and information that will keep you – the musician and songwriter – up on the latest news regarding the music industry.

Thanks so much for taking a look – and even more for signing up for their mailing list.

Phil Collins hospitalized for ‘severe’ head injury

Phil Collins has been hospitalized after suffering a fall that resulted in a “severe gash” on his head. The iconic 66-year-old singer got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom in his London hotel room when he slipped and suffered the injury.

Collins’ team shared the news in a post on his official Facebook page on Thursday morning and revealed that he’d be postponing his two London shows at the Royal Albert Music Hall as a result.

“We unfortunately have to announce that Phil Collins’ performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London will be postponed tonight (June 8) and tomorrow (June 9),” the statement read. “Phil suffers from ‘drop foot’ as a result of a back operation which makes it difficult to walk. He rose in the middle of the night to go to the toilet and slipped in his hotel room, hitting his head in the fall on a chair. He was taken to hospital where he had stitches for a severe gash on his head close to his eye and is recovering well. He will be kept under observation for 24 hours.”

Collins is in the midst of his first tour in 10 years, and made sure to send his gratitude to his loyal fans who have come out to his shows — and who plan on going to his future ones, as well.

“Phil sends his sincere apologies and thanks to fans,” the statement continued. “He has had a fantastic week at his first shows in 10 years, cannot thank people enough for their warm reaction and is excited to return.”

He’ll resume his tour on Sunday in Cologne, Germany, with shows following in Paris and London.
