Talent Needed|

Denver ’80’s Rock/Hair Metal Band “Guilty as Charged” is seeking a new front person/vocalist. We currently cover about 75 songs, AC/DC, Def Lep, Crue, G ‘n’ R, Van Halen etc. along with 20 or so original tunes. We have lights, sound and gigs lined up. Our current front woman has been transferred out of state and we are looking to add a fourth member (25%) to our group be it male or female. We have been together for almost 6 years and come December 1st we have no front person…

Any recommendations would be GREATLY appreciated …

NPR’S CONCERT SERIES LOOKING FOR BANDS

NPR Music is kicking off 2016 with an invite to unsigned artists of all genres: Show why you should perform in NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series. The winner will secure a spot at the iconic performance space and a U.S. tour with NPR Music.

Bands and musicians can submit original video entries to NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Contest Jan. 12-Feb. 2 at npr.org/tinydeskcontest (see rules for entry).

“This Contest brings out the creatives in our country,” says All Songs Considered host Bob Boilen, who developed NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concerts series with colleague Stephen Thompson in 2008. “When the Contest was first introduced, musicians from every state rose to the occasion and made incredible music recorded behind desks set on mountaintops, in the ocean and in cubicles. I simply can’t wait to see and hear what we get this round.”

For the second year, Lagunitas Brewing Company has provided exclusive support for the Tiny Desk Contest.

NPR Music has created a bigger prize package for the 2016 contest winner, which includes a four-part event tour with stops at NPR’s Ask Me Another program and at Lagunitas breweries in Petaluma, CA and Chicago, IL and a final stop in Portland, OR. A panel of musicians from the Tiny Desk roster—Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys and The Arcs, Lucius ladies Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig and soul artist Son Little—will join Boilen and All Song Considered co-host Robin Hilton in selecting one Contest winner, to be announced in March 2016. Throughout the three-week submission period and afterwards, NPR Music will also feature select video entries on the Contest Tumblr, which already includes highlights from the 2015 contest.

“I dare say Tiny Desk has been our biggest stage,” say judges Laessig and Wolfe. “To this day, we meet people from all over the world who say Tiny Desk is what introduced them to Lucius. We couldn’t be more grateful to be involved.”

The Tiny Desk Contest was inspired by NPR Music’s desire to help fans find music they love, and support artists throughout their careers. During its inaugural run in spring 2015, the challenge received entries from nearly 6,000 music makers across all 50 states. As the winning artist, Oakland blues musician Fantastic Negrito, performed at the Tiny Desk and Lagunitas’ Couchtrippin’ to Austin showcase during SXSW. He’s since appeared at music festivals all over the U.S. including SummerStage in New York and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco; embarked on a U.S. tour; and seen his self-titled EP top the iTunes blues charts.

Musicians interested in entering NPR Music’s 2016 Tiny Desk Contest must play one original song at a desk (any desk—get creative), upload a video of the performance to YouTube and submit with the entry form at npr.org/tinydeskcontest. NPR Music welcomes music from all genres and, and 2015 entrants are encouraged to participate again this round with new material. Artists must be at least 21 years old and live in the U.S. to enter. The winning artist(s) must be available to travel to Washington, D.C. between March 7 and March 9 to record their Tiny Desk Concerts performance at NPR Headquarters and eager to go on tour in spring 2016. See complete rules for entry.

INFO RE: TALENT APPLICATIONS FOR 2016 CAPITOL HILL PEOPLE’S FAIR ENTERTAINMENT

Once again we are excited to host 3 stages at the People’s Fair. We may be partnering with another organization who will be scheduling acts on one of the stages. We are currently looking for a sponsor to host our cultural performance stage. At this time we will not be taking applications for dance groups, buskers, drama groups, choir groups and cultural groups. If the opportunity arises at a later date and we are able to secure a sponsor, we will contact our database for groups to apply.  Competition will be very high this year. All acts will still be local to Colorado and the application process and auditions will be conducted in a similar format. To be added to our entertainment email list please email AliciaFresquez@CHUNDenver.org or call the CHUN office at 303-830-1651.

When: Saturday, June 4, 2016 – 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, June 5, 2016 – 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. – at Denver’s Civic Center Park.

GREAT ENTERTAINMENT
If you’ve been in Capitol Hill you know the great diversity and originality of its buildings and residents. We feature the same kind of great diversity and originality in our entertainment. Whether it’s pop, gospel or country, rock or blues, we’ve got it all. Through our application process the genres are scored separately to assure a wide range of entertainment for the entire family. You name it, we’ve got it.

The application process begins with an online application that will be reviewed by our selection panel consisting of members of the Entertainment Committee, Fair Management, and members of the local entertainment community. Entertainers will then be invited to our live auditions, the UMX (Ultimate Music Xperience). The UMX takes place on April 2 & 3 and is open to the public, who will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite bands.

● All applicants will be performing on a strictly volunteer basis.
● Applications received AFTER the January 29, 2016 deadline will not be accepted.

All ENTERTAINERS are required to provide 3 video performance links and one stage plot by the application deadline: 5PM, January 29, 2016.

All acts will be juried by a selection panel consisting of members of the Entertainment Committee, Fair Management, and members of the local entertainment community.

An audition may be required for your act.  Auditions (an event called the Ultimate Music Xperience or UMX) will be held on the weekend of April 2-3, 2016.  You will be notified by telephone and e-mail in February 2016 if an audition for your act is necessary.

An invitation to perform at the 2016 People’s Fair will be e-mailed by mid-April 2016.  Decisions of the selection panel are final.

Accepted acts will receive a “countdown packet” via email and an “access” packet regarding parking, load-in/out procedures and general Fair information via US postal mail or by email.

Please make sure that the primary contact is someone who has regular contact with the act and that the email address given is checked frequently.  Also, if there is a change of address or contact information after the application is submitted, please contact the CHUN office to make the necessary updates.

● Acts performing on a stage MAY NOT solicit for or accept tips.
● Acts may display promotional material, provide promotional giveaways (tickets, etc.) and/or offer for sale CDs, DVDs or other items directly related to their organization.

By submitting the application and signing the release, you agree that any photographs taken of your performance at the UMX and/or People’s Fair becomes the property of Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods and may be used in promotional materials for CHUN and the People’s Fair.

● January 29, 2016 – Application Deadline
● Mid-February, 2016 – Ultimate Music Xperience (UMX) invitees to be notified (The UMX is the official auditioning process for the 2016 CHUN Capitol Hill People’s Fair).
