Something Underground recording – Their songs are on KUVO 92.9

By Alexander Kirk | A new listener-scheduled radio station launches Friday on 92.9 FM and 89.3 HD3. Denver-area music fans now have a new station option on their radio dial. Denver Open Media in a partnership with KUVO and Denhac, launched a new listener-scheduled radio station dedicated entirely to Colorado-based artists, on Friday, June 14th.

The music played on the new station will be “scheduled in a revolutionary new way,” according to Tony Shawcross, Open Media Foundation Executive Director.

“Anyone can submit a song or show and it will be shared on the http://www.DenverOpenMedia.org website. There, the audience can vote 1-5 stars for anything they hear, and those votes are automatically translated into a scheduling algorithm that puts the listeners in control,” said Shawcross. “Denver’s creative scene deserves a station dedicated to local artists. Our audience deserves to decide what they want to hear.”

The signal for 92.9 FM and 89.3 HD3 will be available from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins due to an exchange of Open Media Foundation’s previous 104.7 FM for 92.9 FM and a ten-year agreement with KUVO and Rocky Mountain PBS to operate 89.3 HD3.

“It will be a unique launch event, benefiting a unique vision. We’re excited to be a part of it,” said Tina Cartagena, Senior Vice President of Radio for KUVO.

Listeners can watch, listen and vote at http://www.DenverOpenMedia.org.
