Festival Applications for 2019 are now open. FEMMUSIC has previewed CMW for a number of years now. It is Canada’s SXSW attracting 3000 bands and featuring a music conference. It is a different option than SXSW for exposure. Applications are due January 7, 2019. Festival runs May 6-12, 2019.

Each year Canadian Music Week attracts hundreds of artists and industry from around the world to gather in Toronto, ON for an entire week of live music, learning, and making new connections. Now is your chance to take part in it! Spend your days attending panels, one-on-one meetings, and more at the music conference before you head out for the night to showcase in front of new fans, fellow musicians, and industry friends.

Canadian Music Week (CMW) has a lot of moving parts, Here are some answers to questions most people have. On this page we will be concentrating on the Music Festival portion of the event. What is Canadian Music Week (CMW)?

In our 36th year, we are now a little bit of everything. We are Canada’s biggest New Music Festival. The festival will take place in venues across Toronto from May 7-13, 2018, showcasing the talents of musicians from a wide range of genres for both international industry and general public alike.

When is CMW?

May 7-13, 2018!

Where is CMW?

Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Earth. During the day the conference takes place at The Sheraton Centre Toronto Hotel. At night we bounce around the many venues in Toronto. Check out our list of venues here.

How do I get tickets?

Tickets will be available on the CMW site, ticketweb.ca, ticketmaster.ca, Rotate This and Soundscapes – More details in the passes/ticket section

Is it all ages?

With most of our shows being at clubs open till 4:00 am, you have to be 19+, but we do try and have a couple shows that are all ages.

Are venues accessible for people with disabilities?

Is there seating?

Well with most venues, there might be a bar stool or two. If you can find it. So lots of standing, and dancing.

How do I get around?

In Toronto we have the TTC, our trusty (sometimes…) public transit. Now if you don’t want to wait around for that, we also have Uber, cabs, car sharing, and bike sharing. You can also walk around. Toronto is pretty easy to navigate, and it’s a cool way to get to know the city.

I need somewhere to stay, Help!

Let me google that for you…. But really, it depends on your preferences. There are a bunch of hotels, a couple hostels, or Airbnb is always a great choice too. Toronto is big, take a look at our venue map so you can book somewhere that is in the middle of all the action.
