Talent Needed|

Please join us at the 2016 Colorado Performing Arts Jamboree, Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., at Jefferson County Fairgrounds, the Jeffco Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall, 15200 West 6th Avenue, Golden CO 80401. This is a reminder to get your Jamboree registration in as soon as possible.

It’s a one-day talent-scouting event that can save you time and solve your presenting dilemmas. With more than 100 ensembles and individual performers exhibiting in a format deliberately designed to invite collaboration (no pipe-and-drape walls between booths), there’s an excitement, a spirit of discovery, the opportunity to find something unexpected that may be perfect for your audience.

Meet one-on-one with artists without being tied to a particular agent’s roster or fees. Performers represent all genres—jazz, blues, rock, folk, theatre, dance, ethnic traditions, and entertainment for children.

We will send an e-blast to the buyers by midweek and a post card will go out next week. This will cause many of them to go look at the website, so get registered to have your name on the exhibitors list when the presenters start doing their pre-Jamboree shopping. The savvy presenters do some web research before they come to the trade show to help focus their path through the exhibit hall. As you know, if you are on the list they will want to meet you. So get listed!

The “new” website will be live any day now and it will feature online registration for both artists and presenters (buyers). Quick and easy and soooo 21st  Century. But why wait for quick and easy? Simply download the attached forms into your Word program, type in a few things, save on your system, and email to us right now.

If you have already registered, go to the Exhibitors page  (http://venturewest.biz/Exhibitors2016.html)
and double check the spelling and appearance of your name. If you have registered and your name is not there, get in touch with me right away.

To register, fill out and return the registration form and summary of fees page (with your payment!) found on our website.

The “Brief Description of your Act” section is added to encourage you to give us something to advertise about your group – think “informative” if you put something there: mention your Grammy nominations; your number of days touring last year; the tv, internet, and movie credits; or the philosophical point of view that informs your work; what about your career in arts and entertainment makes it worth the effort. That sort of thing.

I have produced the Jamboree since 1988 because I believe face to face communication is critical to building ensemble in the performing arts. Most contact between artists and presenters is formulaic – promo packs and demo disks have a sameness; rejection letters and contracts are both pulled from last year’s folder on the computer. But when a presenter sees the animation of a performer talking about their work or when an artist hears a presenter talk about the people she hopes to entertain, they can begin to create something together. The Jamboree is where we get the actual face time to do that creating.

As always, call or send a note with questions!

Looking forward to seeing you all in January.

Sincerely,
Jim Schwartzkopff
