Talent Needed|

I run the events and marketing for DIME Denver, a new music university opening this fall. We are accredited through MSU Denver.

Additionally, we have an excellent music venue and our aim is to contribute to this already thriving Colorado music scene. We are offering our space to bands and artists to use for free, giving them an opportunity to run their own events and make money through their art. I’m trying to promote this fact as I’d love for musicians and the local community to be aware of the opportunities they have available here at DIME Denver.

I’ve also attached a flyer for our first live music event DIME Presents, on Friday the 27th of Jan. It’s a new indie/ folk/ rock night dedicated to promoting and showcasing our favorite local bands. The Launch is free to attend , with a killer line up, and free beer, so if that genre is your thing, you might enjoy this night too.

[Editor’s Note: Room 140 is extremely hard to find! When you enter the main door on the south side of the Tivoli, go straight ahead to the atrium area. Look to your left. Do NOT go down the stairs but rather take the walkway left of the stairs to the back of the room. There is an elevator there. Take it down to the 1st Floor, then take the stairs down another flight! Basically it’s in the basement but it’s been totally updated and it’s really a neat room! You may have to ask someone for directions or look at the map very carefully!]

Thanks,
Siddy Bennett

NPR Announces 2017 Tiny Desk Concerts Contest – Entry Deadline THIS Sunday

You’ve been writing. You’ve been rehearsing. You’ve been watching Tiny Desk concerts. You could be the next great talent to play here. Now is the time: Show us what you’ve got.

Since we launched this year’s contest with a silly video back in December, we received over 6,000 video entries from every state in our nation. The contest is about discovery — not just for us, but for everyone who watches Tiny Desk concerts, eager to find unknown artists to fall in love with. This year, our winner was Gaelynn Lea, a powerful fiddle player from Duluth, Minn., who sent in a simple video of her heart-wrenching song, “Someday We’ll Linger In The Sun.” The Contest’s judges — Holly Laessig & Jess Wolfe from Lucius, Son Little, Dan Auerbach, Robin Hilton and I — were immediately captivated. Her performance at the Tiny Desk in March was equally stunning and beautiful. Gaelynn joined us on some of the tour, and I have to say she’s one of the loveliest people I’ve met.

The Contest isn’t just about finding that one special musician, though. Every single day we discovered an act we loved. We saw you perform on our 10-date tour across the country. We wrote about you on our Tumblr and in this newsletter; we hosted your videos on our site; we featured you in all sorts of Tiny Desk Contest mash-ups. You’ve given us more new music to listen to, and more great undiscovered bands to cheer for. And in return, I hope you gained confidence to pursue your craft.

When I think about the Tiny Desk Contest, the most important thing I think of is our community. I’ve been in music for a long time, and I know it’s not easy to devote yourself to your art. No matter how you arrange your life, it takes true dedication and perseverance to make music. Often you feel alone. Sometimes you feel like nobody’s listening. But when we all come together like this and amplify each other’s voices, there’s no ignoring the wonderful music hiding out in this country, just beneath the surface. It’s a joyful noise. Thank you for making it with us.

From the Tiny Desk,
Bob Boilen

P.S. You’ll be hearing from us less in the months to come, but follow us on Facebook to stay up to date with NPR Music.

CHUN’s People’s Fair Looking for Entertainers, Bands – NEW Process

I apologize on the delay, we have been getting a few events up and going this month. We have eliminated a formal application process and audition for artists and bands. We are asking that all bands interested in playing send any pertinent links to music, social media, and websites to peoplesfairtalent@gmail.com

We are completely open to booking bands that have played in year’s prior but are also opening it up to some new talent that has never played the festival. Let me know if you have anymore questions!

Bolder Boulder Looking for Bands on Memorial Day, May 29th

If you’ve ever run or watched the Bolder Boulder 10K, then you know about the bands that line the course, as well as the colorful personalities. Since 2015, BCAA is getting in on the action, by partnering with them to add more artists to the scene.

In 2017, BCAA will offer three artists or art organizations a stipend for performing at the Bolder Boulder. These three will be selected through a Request for Proposal process that will remain open through February 28, 2017.

You and/or your organization can also participate by walking or running in costume, as long as you don’t impede the efforts of other walkers/runners. If you enroll through BCAA, we can offer you a discounted registration fee.
