The Colorado Creates application review is a combination of individual online reading and commenting on applications and a “virtual” group discussion and funding recommendations over several hours.

The online review process will require a 10-20 hour commitment, with a 2-4 hour virtual meeting, depending on the number of applications. Since it is an online/virtual system, there is no travel required for panelists.

Panelists include artists, arts administrators, and community leaders who represent diverse geographic, ethnic, philosophical and aesthetic perspectives.

What you need to know about the Colorado Creates grant for nonprofit arts organizations.

Colorado Creates grants are general operating support for organizations and communities to produce arts and cultural activities, impacting people in all regions of the state and enhancing the quality of life. Efforts are made to ensure distribution of funds throughout the state, with a specific goal of increasing investment in rural communities. Two deadlines are open to returning applicants only or new applicants.

Colorado Creates grants are now a two-year grant funding period for successful applicants. There is still a one-year sit-out period for organizations funded two years in a row. Some applicants funded this year (Fiscal Year 2018) will complete their second year of funding and must sit out the application process for Fiscal Year 2019. They may apply again for Fiscal Year 2020.
