Barb Dye, mom Jeanne Froman, and Julie Mascilli in 2003

Several people have asked about a “service” for Ms. Froman, the mother of COMBO’s president Barb Dye. Her family will be holding a “Celebration of Jeanne’s Life” party (and we do mean PARTY) on Sunday, August 18th at the Thornton Active Adults Center at 9471 Dorothy Boulevard, Thornton, CO from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. They do request an RSVP text to 210-887-0480 so that we’ll be able to better estimate the amount of refreshments needed.

Jeanne was an accomplished tap dancer, seamstress, costume designer, and artist. She appeared in America’s Got Talent at the age of 85, tap dancing while jumping rope. She made it to the 4th round and ended up in the Top 80. She had so hoped to get to dance with Nigel Lythgoe, one of the producers of AGT and a judge on So You Think You Can Dance.

She ran the Froman School of Dance in Commerce City and Thornton for many years, teaching tap, advanced tap, acrobatics, ballet, personality singing, and showmanship. Jeanne was a co-director (along with her daughter Julie) of the Miss Thornton Pageant (Miss America) for three years.

Having more time on her hands, Jeanne started painting again a few years ago. She wanted to be the “new” Grandma Moses. Her paintings of sailing ships, the Alamo, and other assorted subjects were much in demand and brought her in extra income as well!

She moved to San Antonio to live with Julie but leaves many, many friends, family, and dance students in the Denver area.

Jeanne passed away on June 21st at the age of 96 from congestive heart failure. She leaves 5 children, 7 grandchildren and spouses, and 9 great-grandchildren behind.

Don’t forget to text an RSVP to 210-887-0480!
