SYDNEY, Australia (CelebrityAccess) — AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson has put the kibosh on the recent flurry of rumors about the band retiring due to health concerns for one of the group’s members.

In an interview with the Telegraph’s Jake Wallis Simons that the band was definitely not planning on an imminent retirement and are instead planning to start working on a new album.

However, a statement released by the band on the group’s official website did reveal that guitarist Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band for medical reasons.

“After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health. Malcolm would like to thank the group’s diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support,” the statement said.

Johnson also talked about the band’s plans for their 40th anniversary tour, which would involve 40 concerts at 40 different venues.

“That would be a wonderful way to say bye bye,” said Johnson. “We would love to do it. But it’s all up in the air at the moment,” Johnson told The Telegraph.

“AC/DC is such a tight family. We’ve stuck to our guns through the Eighties and Nineties when people were saying we should change our clothes and our style. But we didn’t and people got it that we are the real deal.” – Staff Writers

So much fun to hear local rockers The Fray’s song, “How to Save a Life,” on American Idol Wednesday night. The theme for the evening was “America Chooses the Songs” and “How to Save a Life” was the song that America chose for 17 year old Sam to sing! You know you’ve “made it” when your song is featured on a national show like American Idol!
