A location has been revealed for next month’s “American Idol” audition stop in Amarillo.

Auditions will be held July 17th at Don Harrington Discovery Center, 1200 Streit Drive, according to the “Idol” website, http://www.americanidol.com .

The bus tour auditions will take place between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Auditioners are encouraged to arrive early: “At some locations if you wait until late in the day there is no guarantee that we will have space or time to accommodate you,” producers say on the website.

Auditions take place rain or shine, according to the site.

Hopefuls should bring two forms of identification, including one photo ID, to show proof of age.

Auditioners must be between the ages of 15 and 28 as of June 1 and U.S. citizens or permanent legal residents eligible to work full-time in America.

Other restrictions, including past participation on “Idol” or current recording contracts, also are in place.

Release forms must be brought to the audition location, as well.

For auditioners younger than 18 who are attending with a guardian who is not their parent, a completed and notarized guardian and medical authorization form is required.

Forms and more details are available at www.americanidol.com.

Other cities on the tour include Portland, Ore.; Portland, Maine; Reno, Nev.; Columbus, Ohio; Albuquerque, N.M. (bus tour); Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Branson, Mo.; Tallahassee, Fla.; Richmond, Va.; and Kansas City, Mo.

“Idol” was renewed in May for a 14th season, which is expected to begin airing in January.
