On September 27, the Denver City Council passed $500,000 in grants for Special Event Companies (SEC) doing business in Denver County. This grant was secured through the Colorado Event Alliance in compliance with Denver’s Department of Economic Development and Opportunity (DEDO) in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Funded through the Federal CARES Act, this fund is to offer retention, rehire and hire support for Denver event industry businesses for relief from COVID 19 impacts.

Denver-based Special Event businesses are eligible to receive up to $10,000 and any individual benefitting from the fund may receive no more than $1,000. All funds must be distributed in the companies by November 18, 2021. Payroll records and other information from your company needs to be provided to CEA on or before November 18, 2021 or the additional funds needs to be returned to CEA by November 31, 2021.

Assistance shall be provided to eligible applicants regardless of immigration status. No identifying personal information will be given to the City and County of Denver for reporting or any other purposes.

Eligibility requirements:

● Use of funds shall be restricted to businesses with a physical location in the City and County of Denver.

● Recipients must be open and operating and had an established location in Denver prior to December 31, 2020.

● No recipient shall receive more than a total of $10,000 in funds per location or individual in excess of $1,000 during the 2021 calendar year.

● Assistance shall be provided regardless of the immigration status of the applicant.

Eligible entities must have its chief headquarters located in Denver, Colorado and service the Colorado market.
