DENVER (CBS4)– Gov. Jared Polis announced a coronavirus relief fund in Colorado to help those who are unable to work during the business closures and small businesses that have been forced to close.

The Colorado COVID-19 relief fund has raised $2.8 million so far. Those who wish to donate money can do so at http://www.HelpColoradoNow.org.

Those who can’t donate money can donate their time and volunteer during the coronavirus social distancing period.

Polis said the fund will help “those who have lost their jobs and are facing real difficulties.”

“We’re particularly looking for individuals who can help at-risk individuals in a wide variety of various support. It could mean health care assistance, it could mean food delivery, it could mean mental wellness support, it could mean child care,” said Polis.

He also addressed the need for blood donations and said that there are precautions in place to keep people safe during that process.

The fund will be overseen by a committee of community leaders from across Colorado and will be providing aid to support Colorado communities and organizations affected by the recent outbreak. Funds will provide flexible resources to organizations in Colorado working with communities who are disproportionately impacted.
