Photo: The full Denver Concert Band is back! Just a note to let you know that the Denver Concert Band is back in action! We received the OK from the Lone Tree Arts Center to start rehearsals there again and to start scheduling dates for our 2021-2022 formal concert season.
We had our first rehearsal at LTAC on July 12th; our last rehearsal was March 10th, 2020. This was just after our March 1st Guest Artist Concert wherein composer Robert W. Smith conducted the premiere performance of In the Garden of the Gods, a commissioned piece he wrote especially for the DCB.
While some of our players were able to keep up their skills in small ensembles that afforded the 6+ foot distancing, many of us are pretty rusty and are looking forward to getting our ‘chops’ back in shape. Just hope Jacinda goes easy on us for a little while!
We anticipate our first formal concert will be at 2:00 p.m. on September 26th, so keep watch on LTAC’s website and plan ahead to join us in our reemergence performance. Of course we’ll also send you our detailed Notice of Concert well in advance of the concert as we have done in the past. We look forward to all of us being able to be together again.
