Laura Goldhamer: Singer / Songwriter / Musician / Film-maker!
This Month Laura Goldhamer is our guest speaker! Born & raised in Denver, CO, Laura Goldhamer is a musician/songwriter/performer, as well as a stop-motion animator & filmmaker, possessing a particular knack for creating music videos. She has made feature films & worked with such acts as Gregory Alan Isakov, Elephant Revival, Sean Hayes, Jonny 5 (Flobots), & Trout Steak Revival to direct deeply organic visual art set to their music, while continuing to compose & perform her own profound songs on guitar & clawhammer banjo. Goldhamer’s multi-media performances feature live music accompanied by projected motion pictures, & are full of life & laughter, much like the dynamic collaborative process she has cultivated in her filmmaking. Awarded Westword magazine’s 2010 Mastermind Award for being a “cultural visionary” in Denver, Goldhamer works in arts, activism, & the intersection thereof, while staying true to her roots as a songwriter & storyteller, merging traditional Americana with the avant-garde.
