Sponsored by Davita | Independence Eve has established itself as Colorado’s largest single-day, free community event for over a decade. Originated in 2009 with the Colorado Symphony and Civic Center Conservancy, the event had grown to nearly 90,000 spectators at Civic Center Park with millions more tuning in via broadcast television.

Due to the effects of COVID-19 on the arts and with additional restrictions with public gatherings, the Colorado Symphony saw an opportunity to continue the Independence Eve tradition and provide a much-needed community connection of uplifting music, dance, and song and began immediately curating a collaborative program.

A focus of the program will be multi-faceted fundraising for select charities during the live broadcast on Denver7 and http://thedenverchannel.com at 7:00 p.m. with Anne Trujillo and Shannon Ogden serving as virtual emcees. The program will also stream from this page and on the Colorado Symphony’s YouTube page on July 3 at 8 p.m. MST with a special Independence Day Replay on July 4 at 7:00 p.m. MST.

Performance partners with Colorado Symphony ensembles include Colorado Ballet, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, and Opera Colorado. Current locations incorporated into the program are Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Civic Center Park, Boettcher Concert Hall in the Denver Performing Arts Complex, and the Colorado State Capital Rotunda. Additionally, we’re pleased to announce that DaVita has generously agreed to be our title sponsor for this year’s event!

Audiences will have the opportunity to support artists and individuals affected by COVID-19 including the Center for African American Health, The Center on Colfax, the Civic Center Conservancy, Food Bank of the Rockies, Food for Thought Denver, and the Rose Andom Center through event partner Community First Foundation at http://www.ColoradoGives.org/IndyEve.
