Bio: Brenda Speer of BL Speer & Associates has been practicing law since the last millenium (1989) and has honed her primary area of emphasis, intellectual property law (patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret), through both private law firm practice and in-house legal department service. She is in private law practice in Colorado Springs and provides legal counsel to artists, entertainers, innovators, companies and individuals in the creative, technological, business and real estate arts. She is an avid champion in educating and enabling her clients to protect and nurture their valuable brainchildren and other important personal, business and real estate assets.
Program Title: Just the FAQs Ma’am: Copyrights Demystified
Description: Copyrights are critical to the creative industries, yet are often little understood or misunderstood by creatives. The session will educate participants on US copyright law and its applicability to their creative endeavors. Learning objectives are for participants to understand what copyrights are and how they apply to works participants create, as well as to the works of others. The session will inform participants how to protect and commercially exploit their creative assets during their lifetime and beyond.
Length: 1 hour, including Q&A.
