2016 THIRD ANNUAL ROCKY MOUNTAIN MARDI GRAS – DOWNTOWN PARKER

February marks the start of Mardi Gras celebrations nationwide. Infamous “Fat Tuesday” falls early this month. Here in Parker, Colorado, the Council of Arts, Science and Culture (CASC) brings its 3rd Annual Gras Celebration to downtown, for the first time this year. Parker’s downtown is the CASC Mardi Gras’ new, permanent location – kicking off the celebration is a three day event beginning on February 5th, 2016.

CASC visionaries, also responsible for growing the downtown Parker Oktoberfest, present this celebration as a seminal downtown event. Rocky Mountain Mardi Gras Parker 2016 is co-hosted by Parker Downtown Business Alliance with additional support from the Parker Creative District.

Kicking off the weekend festivities on Friday, February 5th, a Biz-Pub Crawl will greet the weekend, as the celebration continues on Saturday with a sidewalk parade featuring what planners hope to be the largest Marching Sidewalk Band in Colorado with The Glorious Rhythm Heartbreakers and Melodious Strangers Social Club – A Rocky Mountain Mardi Gras Musical Mobocracy – Cajun food and – yes, an experience people will want to have as Mardi Gras introduces a Black Eyed Bingo Bash set to live music, neon decor, black lights and featuring over $1,500 worth of cash winnings to players. Sunday, of course, is the answer to every Super Bowl fan’s dream; a kickoff aptly named “GumBowl Brunch” at Parker Garage on Mainstreet.

“We are thrilled to announce such support and growth to our Mardi Gras celebration,” said Jeff Fox, president of the Council of Arts, Science & Culture (“CASC”). “With our growing cultural reach across the Front Range and the fun twist we are putting on this year’s event by adding a family friendly all play in the band parade, it’s sure to get some attention!”

As a fundraiser, this year’s event is supported by Mile High Rodeo Royalty and Rollin’ Dreams, an organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of teenagers with life threatening illnesses. Rollin’ Dreams provides activities and experiences for teens during treatment, to decrease and overcome boredom and loneliness.

Rocky Mountain Mardi Gras is the perfect New Year kickoff event and a complement to the Parker Community’s Festival Season. It is fast becoming a recognized Colorado event due to its authentic, fun and family-friendly Eyed Bingo twists and celebratory atmosphere.

Where? Various locations around Mainstreet, Parker, CO 80134 with Vines Wine Bar and Bistro, Parker Garage and Deep Space center at Victorian Peaks providing specific events.

When? Festival kicks off Friday, February 5, 2016 (4pm) Saturday, February 6, 2016 (4pm – 10:30pm) and Sunday February 7, 2016 at 11 am.
