He was born in Brooklyn, NY and met his wife, Ann, at college. Tom was a respected IT professional for major corporations, including Eastern Airlines, American Airlines and Ameritrade. When the Hushens moved to Evergreen, Tom became a very active local philanthropist and transitioned into real estate and working within the community. Helping others was a passion for him, whether it was organizing fundraising events, assisting clients as they were navigating through contracts, building and managing website for nonprofits, forming friendships everywhere he went, and making sure his grandchildren had a constant supply of ice cream and s’mores. Tom had a vision for the Evergreen Bluegrass Festival and chose to share it with “his girls”, who now make up the EBF Committee. He loved the idea of bringing Bluegrass to Evergreen and making this Festival an annual event that would give back to the community in many ways. Tom was a joy to work with, always a smile, always a warm greeting, always a sparkle in his eye. His is greatly missed by “his girls” and the Evergreen community at large.

COMBO AND THE DMA PRESENT NOAH PETERSON’S WORKSHOP ON HOW TO BOOK A PAYING TOUR

Rather than split the attendance, the Denver Musicians Association and the Colorado Music Business Organization have decided to work together on a few workshops and clinics. Dick Weissman, a member of both groups, has set up a clinic for Monday, September 21st from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the DMA Hall at 1165 Delaware, Denver. The guest speaker is Noah Peterson on “How to Book Your Own Tour.” Noah is originally from Montana. He played saxophone in the Marine Corps Band. Dick met him in Portland where they both served 3 terms on the union board there. During that time, he put together a solo saxophone show, with looping. He has booked himself, literally, from Portland to Florida. No agent(s). He also presents looping festivals, with himself and other artists. He’ll be doing one at The Mercury Cafe in Denver, and one in the Springs. He now lives in San Antonio. He also plays washboard in a Zydeco band, and in various jazz and jazz-rock combos.

Noah owns his own record company, and has a bunch of things on You Tube. He has really done well with the BMI Live thing, and he’ll talk about that as well.
