Brian Howe, the lead singer of Bad Company, has died. He was 66. Brian was believed to be on his way to hospital when he died from cardiac arrest, TMZ reports. He had previously had a heart attack in 2017 and suffered from heart disease, a relative told the US outlet.

The singer found fame with Penetrator – Ted Nugent’s 1983 album – and later replaced Paul Rodgers as lead vocalist of Bad Company.

He left the band in 1994 after writing the platinum-selling record Holy Water in 1990 and gold-selling album Here Comes Trouble two years later.

Brian tried his hand at a solo career but was never able to replicate the level of success he had with Bad Company.

He left the band under a dark cloud, telling media in a statement he was tired of his bandmates.

“Leaving Bad Company was not a difficult decision. It had got to the point where nobody was contributing anything to songwriting and quite frankly, the band was getting very very sloppy live,” he said at the time.

“I quite simply, along with Terry Thomas, got tired of doing all the work and then getting nothing but resentment for it from Mick and Simon.”

He died on Wednesday May 6 with what appears to be an unconnected health issue.
