Gary Hoover (from his Facebook page)

From Andy O’Leary on Fb, 4/21/20: “I always thought that I’d see you again” | Gary Hoover (7/28/50-4/21/20) | My best friend died today. He had cancer. I stopped by Sunday and we sat on his back porch and enjoyed spring and music. He loved life and fought hard to stay here but he knew it was the beginning of his journey. He loved music, he breathed music and through music he continues to be here. He was a true Southern Gentleman and he played Guitar with the South in his playing. He helped me so much in so many ways and I am better for knowing him.

I would guess many of you have similar thoughts.

He always challenged me to be better but knew perfection was in the heart.

I’ll miss him… his sarcastic humor and his honesty and his musical genius.

He loved The Stones.

His big heart has stopped beating but he is in the music of the spheres.

Melissa Gates Perry: In 2007 I embarked on a journey of love, magic, friendship and music. The first people in Denver that the Universe decided to bring my way were Gary Hoover and Andy O’Leary, who were and are the grand designers of The Coyote Poets of the Universe. These two men became my brothers, my wizards, the deliverers of my musical pallet, upon which I still paint. I could never have imagined being blessed with so many beautiful opportunities and so much fucking FUN in my life. I am but one Coyote in a venerable star strewn sky of members.

To those of you who have been lucky enough to be in the pack over the years, you know what I mean when I say musically BLESSED…. I will miss Gary Hoover and I will forever be in his debt for allowing me to be the driver of the bus that was, is and will be the Coyote Poets of the Universe. I know that the world is a bit dimmer, and heaven is a bit more magically coyote tonight.
