The late Frank Romero: musician and music teacher

December 25, 2020 – Journal Entry by Giga Romero at 9 a.m. | Frank, my husband and best friend and daddy to Derek, Isaiah, Cecelia, Jayden and Chloe, passed away early this morning. We spent a beautiful Christmas Eve watching It’s a Wonderful Life, joking, laughing, and ended the night with a Christmas toast to happiness about being together. It wasn’t enough time, but we’ll cherish it forever.

We are heartbroken, but so grateful for the time Frank was able to spend at home. Thank you for every ounce of energy poured into prayers, messages, errands, food deliveries, gifts, and everything else you did to support us during this time. Frank was overwhelmed to see the outpouring of love surrounding him.

Update by Neesey Koppenhaver, Organizer
Just a quick update that Frank’s final arrangements have been put into motion.

The date for the memorial service is up in the air, but is likely to fall in the 2nd week of January. Due to COVID, we ask everyone to attend via livestream, information will be posted as soon as we finalize the date. We know this is not ideal and many people want to attend in person, but we ask everyone to respect ours and Frank’s wishes.

Once it is safe to gather, we plan to do a traditional funeral mass followed by reception at St. Anthony and will invite everyone to attend in person.

We also will be planning a tribute concert in the summer or fall. Frank loved music, all music, more than anyone I know and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate his life than to give him an amazing musical send-off.

Thank you all for your love and support during this time, we have so many people to thank and will do that formally once everything calms down, but I can’t let your acts of kindness go unacknowledged – we are overwhelmed and comforted by all of you.

“Our lives are better left to chance. I could have missed the pain, but I’da had to miss the dance.”
~ (From “The Dance” by Garth Brooks)
