“Jinx Jones is out there. Four or five nights a week, the great guitar player with the immaculate pompadour can be found at various Bay Area venues, working the stage, doing his thing. The Colorado native came up serving as a sideman to rock ’n’ roll royalty, playing with the likes of Chuck Berry and Solomon Burke.” ~ Aidin Vaziri, San Francisco Chronicle’s pop music critic
April, 2021: Acclaimed San Francisco (former Denver native) guitarist Jinx Jones has just released a new album of luxurious jazz and soul instrumentals, celebrating the golden era and luscious tones of jazz guitar. Jones is joined by pianist Tim Greenhouse, bassist Angeline Saris, Saxophonist Lincoln Adler, Percussionist Ken Owen, Hammond organist Robert Kennedy, and drummer Arlen Felsen for this 11-song album that grooves and swings.
Jinx Jones is well known for his gold and platinum records with R&B divas En Vogue, as well as from his work Chuck Berry, Solomon Burke, and Roy Buchanan as well as his own acclaimed rockabilly albums.
“Jinx is a guitar virtuoso who seamlessly moves from rockabilly to jazz to twang and back again, sometimes in the same song. Those with a liner note obsession will remember Jinx’s playing on En Vogue’s “Free Your Mind.” (Aidin, Vaziri, San Francisco Chronicle)
The “Blue Gardenia” album brings the rich vibe and deep groove of soul jazz into the modern era with gorgeous guitar work that can move from softly delicate to blinding cascades of notes.
“Jinx Jones can indeed dazzle, Jones comps while launching melodic lines in a repertoire mixing percussive rhythm, singe-note passages, and octaves in the modal masterpiece.” (Dan Forte, Vintage Guitar Magazine).
