Club owner Jay Bianci had a rough week – to put it mildly. “Sometimes I like to put a positive spin on things. Sometimes it is difficult to do.” So he wrote a note to his friends on Facebook.

Things felt pretty surreal and depressing today. Like I am a character in a book that they just let live because he is a metaphor for what is going on. He is not essential to the overall plot, but he is a personification of the plot. It was the epitome of existentialism. I remember my professor told me he had to stop teaching existentialism because he saw his students transform from innocent happy-go-luckies into purely despondent subjects. Yep, that is what was happening. I became profoundly sad and disheartened.

But I kept going through things and I first saw a young picture of my brother Phil Bianchi hiking a mountain in a colorful tye-dye. He was holding both arms up basically saying we got this. Then I picked up a post card, turned it over and lo and behold George Bailey’s smiling face was smack dab in the center and I heard in my head “No man is a failure who has friends.” Then my daughter unrolled some papers and they included a message to my mother saying “we love you mom and we love you all the time” from all her children. And although I was sad, I was smiling. Everything had gone completely wrong and I was low as I could be, but I was somehow still able to crack a smile and even laugh. In a weird way I enjoyed my stroll through memory lane.

And then came the texts from my friends and patrons, and they kept coming with words of encouragement and favor. They were read and they were inspiring.

“My time coming, any day, don’t worry about me, no.”

And then came the rainbows, and they kept coming. And my message box was filled with rainbows and double rainbows. And I saw the magic in the world again.

“Rainbow’s end down that highway, don’t worry about me, no.”

And even as it seemed like things looked so bleak

“All the dreams we held so close – Seemed to all go up in smoke.”

I became empowered:

“Like an angel, standing in a shaft of light, rising up to paradise, I know I’m going to shine.”

And no matter how dark it was, I could see the ‘dawn breaking everywhere.”

In the end, today for being one of the worst days of my life, was not actually that bad.

Thanks everyone, you truly make a difference,
Stay True,
Jay Bianchi
