Music Notes|

By Stan Monroe, Facebook | As the state of Colorado gradually opens up and things begin to get back to normal, I wish to explain what I will be doing to protect myself and others. As a cancer survivor, I know the consequences of not taking health risks seriously. I also understand that survivors of cancer may be at higher risk of health complications from Covid-19.

As a result, until a legitimate scientific body gives the “All Clear” signal – including the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment (CDPHE), the CDC, and/or the FDA:

1. I will be wearing a mask from the moment I leave my home until the moment I return to my home.

2. I will honor scientific guidelines including maintaining six-feet of separation from others who are wearing masks in indoor settings.

3. I will maintain 12-feet of distance from others who are not wearing masks in indoor settings.

4. I will follow any and all “safer-at-home” guidelines until such guidelines are lifted. This includes social distancing and the wearing of masks.

5. I will not be guided or influenced by partisan politics or conspiracy theories of any kind. Only scientific information from reputable scientific bodies will guide my decisions and behavior.

6. Do not, I repeat – do not – ask me to participate in any activity that violates the above guidelines. As a cancer survivor, my health and the health of my family are paramount.

7. I do this for me and for you. Since a person can have Covid-19 but not know it for days, my wearing of a mask helps prevent me from spreading it to you in the unlikely event I have contracted it unknowingly. In the same manner, your wearing of a mask protects me.

How you maintain your own health and safety is up to you, but if you do not wear a mask in an indoor setting and/or your behavior does not comport with established scientific guidelines, your behavior is a threat to me and I will act accordingly by keeping my distance.

Finally, my family does not live in fear. Quite the contrary, we are excited to be part of a community of patriotic Americans who have acted in such a way over the past two months to bring the new cases of Covid-19 down and flattened the curve in Colorado and throughout our great country. To everyone who participated in good faith, thank you. It is this behavior that has allowed our local economy to reopen and gives me hope for humanity.

And until the threat is contained and extinguished, I will continue to behave in a responsible manner for the benefit of myself and those around me. This brings me great joy. I am part of the solution, not the problem. I will continue to act responsibly as a patriot and lover of America.

I am thrilled that I will be performing live music very soon at the great clubs of Denver. Playing keyboards gives me great joy. But if you see me wearing a mask when others are not, please respect my decision. I will respect yours.
