On Monday and Tuesday of this week the Denver Musicians Association  completed their move to the new office location at:

10395 West Colfax, Suite 210, Lakewood, CO  80215 (same building as the Golden Music Store).

The new office suite is up and running and they are now keeping regular office hours (9 – 4 Monday – Friday), but they’ve encountered a problem with their internet and phone service. As some of you have undoubtedly discovered, your phone calls to the office are being answered with an annoying busy signal. They hope to have a temporary solution by the end of the week and the permanent solution will be in place by December 18th. Apologies.

Please bear with us as we complete this transition.

BAND MEMBER, EQUIPMENT MISTAKEN FOR ARMED MAN IN WATKINS (NOT FUNNY, McGee!)

A SWAT situation at a restaurant in Watkins turned out to be a case of mistaken identity after the man, who a restaurant staff member believed entered the building with a gun, turned out to be a potential band member who entered with band equipment, officials said.

Adams County authorities surrounded Lulu’s Inn in Watkins on Friday morning around 11 a.m. after receiving reports that an armed man ran into the building.

The staff member evacuated employees and called the county sheriff’s office who sent in a robot along with a SWAT team, said sheriff’s office spokesman Jim Morgen.

The “potential” band member was detained, Morgen said, until the sheriff’s office “could figure out what was going on.”

The situation lasted about two hours.

“Obviously, there are no charges or anything,” Morgen said.

Watkins is about five miles east of where Interstate 70 and E-470 intersect.

K-POP GROUP ‘OH MY GIRL’ DETAINED AT LA AIRPORT ON SUSPICION OF BEING SEX WORKERS

A pop group has flown back to South Korea after officials in Los Angeles thought they might be sex workers.

The eight members were travelling to America for an album cover shoot but were detained for 15 hours in customs.

A statement from the group’s record company, WM Entertainment, said authorities held them after going through their costumes and props.

“They seem to have mistaken them as sex workers,” said a spokesman.

Oh My Girl, who formed in March, are thought to be back in South Korean capital Seoul after being released by officials at Los Angeles International Airport.

WM Entertainment says it is taking legal advice in the US to find out whether the band’s detention was legal.

The record company also said there might have been an issue with the type of visa the band members presented.

They had also been booked to perform at a gala event in Los Angeles on Saturday.

It’s unclear if they will try to return to America to complete their album cover shoot.
Oh My Girl

Oh My Girl (or OMG) brought their debut single Cupid out in April with a second mini-album and title track Closer released in October.

The band members are all aged between 16 and 21.

South Korean pop music, known as K-pop, is dominated by girl and boy bands whose members are often in their teens, although most are older.

In 2012, the South Korean government clamped down on over-sexualized performances by threatening to give higher age ratings to films, music videos and TV shows which exaggerated the sexuality of younger singers and bands.

[In my opinion, the photos of the young ladies featured in the article are quite provocative. No wonder the TSA people questioned why they were here. Thanks to Alex Teitz for contributing this news.]
