Janet Jackson and her baby son Eissa

On Wednesday (Aug. 29th) Janet Jackson celebrated what would’ve been her brother Michael’s 60th birthday by releasing a sneak peek of her new “Remember The Time” inspired video. Jackson joined forces with social media stars Kwaylon “BlameItOnKway” Rogers and Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor to shoot the short clip featuring Jackson playing a queen who passes judgment on her prisoner dancers, just like super model Iman did in MJ’s “Remember The Time” video.

According to TMZ, the project came about after Janet and Kway met at the Billboard Awards earlier this year. Kway pitched the idea of reimagining of the 1992 hit to the “Rhythm Nation” singer an suggested releasing it on Michael’s birthday.

Kway and King Bach play dancers dancing for their lives and for Jackson’s approval in the clip that also features a snippet of Jackson’s latest hit, the Daddy Yankee collab “Made For Now.”

Michael Jackson’s Family Marks the Late Singer’s 60th Birthday with Las Vegas Event, Heartfelt Social Media Posts, and Special Video

Aug. 29 is a tough date for the family of the late great Michael Jackson. This year’s birthday is a milestone — 60 years since MJ was born — and his children and other loved ones did not let it go unnoticed, even though it might have been more low profile than in previous years.

Jackson’s elder son Prince, now 21, and his 20-year-old daughter Paris, who along with 16-year-old Blanket, lost Michael to an overdose of Propofol in 2009, regularly remember their famous dad on social media. But on his diamond birthday, they kept their feelings to themselves. Prince did post what sounded like an order to acknowledge Michael’s birthday from a fan, then explained that he’d chosen to remember the King of Pop in “a different, intimate, and personal way.”

Both Prince and Paris were expected to appear at a diamond birthday celebration for Michael, sponsored by Sony Music and the estate of Michael Jackson, at Daylight Beach Club in Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas later in the night. Other Jackson family members, including MJ’s brothers Tito and Jackie, planned to attend as well, but it was Prince and Paris who were designated to be part of a presentation to Michael from his late friend Elizabeth Taylor’s AIDS Foundation. (Paris serves as an ambassador for the organization.) Celeb deejay Mark Ronson, who dropped a five-minute remix of a few of Jackson’s songs called “Diamonds Are Invincible,” was set to spin, and a surprise eight-time Grammy winner was also part of the slated entertainment. The celebration was to follow a performance of Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson tribute show, Michael Jackson: One.

As for Michael’s sister Janet Jackson, who’s won five Grammys by the way, the day was about releasing a new video clip — a nod to her brother’s extravagant music video for “Remember the Time.” In it, the “That’s the Way Love Goes” singer, who worked with social media stars Kwaylon “BlameItOnKway” Rogers and Andrew “King Bach” Bachelor on the project, plays a royal highness evaluating dancers who’ve come to perform for her. It’s a role similar to the one that model Iman played when the iconic MJ mini-movie music video, co-starring Eddie Murphy, a trunkful of snakes, and countless dancers alongside Michael, was released in 1992.
