After opening three and a half years ago at 1515 Madison Street (the former home of the Normandy, PS 1515 and the Pink Elephant), it didn’t take long for Park House (more recently dubbed Park House / Peacemaker’s Cajun Kitchen) to become a hot spot for music that brought in a steady stream of bluegrass, rock and country acts and more on a weekly basis. But all that, and the Cajun food menu that was launched last July, will come to end at the end of January as the bar/venue/restaurant signs off with a final weeklong schedule of live music that includes a closing party on Saturday and the Sunday Evening Honky Tonk with Lee Sims and the Platte River Band.
Last week, Park House posted this on its Facebook page and on its website:
“Today, in the slight shade of sadness and disappointment, yet enlightened and buoyed by an even greater sense of community and gratitude, we announce the final days of Park House as we close our doors at the end of January. As we think about the end after 3 ½ years, we can’t even begin to encapsulate our appreciation for so many of you out there who have helped to make this place what it is.”
TO OUR STAFF AND EMPLOYEES, both past and present, who grinded through the long shifts and late nights, who put their jobs above all else, who happily jumped on board with the crazy ideas, the crawfish boils and haunted houses, marching bands and Mario Kart tournaments, parking lot events, birthday parties, and New Years Eves, who carried on day and night with aims beyond their own, all to benefit this place, we are so very grateful.
TO OUR PATRONS, FRIENDS, AND FAMILIES, who have chosen Park House on any given night, who have driven in from the suburbs or walked in from the surrounding neighborhood, to spend your valuable time and your hard-earned money, to support us and our staff in what we have been building, who have been enthusiastic and helpful, hopeful and patient, we thank you for your endearing support.
TO THE MUSIC COMMUNITY OF DENVER, if you’ve sang a song, played an instrument, sat in on an open bluegrass pick, circled around the piano on a late night, danced, listened, or in some way or another enjoyed the vibe of our venue, it is because of your willingness we have thrived. Through your encouragement and support and the gracious lending of your talents, you helped to foster the growth of our scene, and in doing so, created an environment for us that we, in fact, had hoped to create for you.

The Armoury Will Close This Weekend After a Three-Year Run
More music-venue closing news: The Armoury on Larimer is shutting down. Named for the Arsenal soccer team’s fan store, the Armoury opened in early 2013 in the Ballpark neighborhood as an old-world pub that focused on soccer, spirits heavy on beer and browns, and a live-music lineup featuring punk, post-punk and indie-rock acts. But within a year of opening, the bar was focusing less on soccer, and the live music was leaning more toward funk and jam bands.
But come this weekend, the Armoury will close up shop after three years. While last night might have marked the final edition of its famed Wednesday-night funk jams, there will be three farewell shows over the next few days before the venue closes for good on Sunday, January 24.
Tonight, Mile High Sound Movement presents Sonic Geometry, Funkstatik and Blucifer’s Ghost. On Friday, January 22, there’s A Bear’s Choice, featuring Dave Hebert (of Melvin Seals & JGB), Jake Wolf (Shakedown Street and Rocky Mountain Grateful Dead Revue), Adrian Engfer (Grant Farm) and Dylan Teifer (Blue Frog). The final show, on Saturday, January 23, features livetronica from TKettle, Second Species and MeanR MynR.
