‘SO PERCUSSION’ THIS FRIDAY & SATURDAY AT THE BOETTCHER CONCERT HALL

Since coming together at the Yale School of Music in 1999, So Percussion has been creating music that is at turns raucous and touching, barbarous and heartfelt. This concert will feature David Lang’s piece, man-made, written for So Percussion. Don’t miss this exciting evening devoted to the world of percussion! Scott O’Neil, conductor, will host the events.

RICK’S FAREWELL JAM AT ZIGGIE’SRick’s Farewell Jam at Ziggie’s This Sunday

Rick Davis, the president of the Mile High Blues Society, will be movin’ on down the road soon.  He and Janet are relocating to Wyoming. Rick has been hosting the the jam on alternate Sundays at Ziggies for more than five years. Come on down this Sunday for a party and sendoff. Catered by Mickey Ridge, Ziggies’s (and Rick’s) favorite chef. Doors at 6pm, get there early! As always, no cover charge for jams at Ziggies. Let’s Party!

‘IN THE MOOD’ PAYS HOMAGE TO AMERICA’S GREATEST GENERATION

Hop aboard the “Chattanooga Choo Choo” and you’ll soon be “In the Mood” to hear some great musicians “Sing, Sing, Sing.” In the Mood is a fully staged tribute to Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman and all the big band greats of the ’40s. Complete with period costumes and choreography, In the Mood pays homage to America’s greatest generation, when people listened and boogied to up-tempo big band rhythms and danced intimate ballads. 19 on stage including six singer-dancers and some hot boogie woogie. Many of the musical arrangements were written by Vic Schoen, conductor and arranger for The Andrews Sisters, and Music Director for both Universal and Paramount Pictures. Experience the swing, the rhythm and the jazzy, brassy, sentimental and patriotic music of this pivotal time in America’s history.
