Reports|

Another year has passed and we have lost so many stars to the heavens, including our own local musicians as well as those known world-wide. COMBO continues to work to aide musicians in their business of music, switching from general Sunday night meetings to Saturday afternoon workshops and panels. Barb Dye remains as president, David Barber (Possibility Promotion) as treasurer, and Mark King as secretary but we said goodbye to Andy Ard (P.J. Zahn Band & more) as vice-president and welcomed Annette Cannon (J-Moon Promotions) who moved up from the board to that position. Andy continues to remain as a consultant, along with Doug Garvey, our board member from Pueblo, and Steve Replin, Esq. Both Steve and Todd Myers, Esq., continue to serve as counsel for COMBO. Other board members are Johnnie Johnson (of Innervision), and we welcomed our newest board members Jahna Eichel (Higher Ground Rehearsal Studios in Fort Colins), Clark Hagan (ClarKen Productions: Producer, Mixer, Engineer, Songwriter, Musician), Terry Minggia (Minggia Entertainment, Rocky Mountain Promoters Association), Andrew Pike (audio engineer at Sounds True in Louisville), and Harold Rapp, III (saxophonist extraordinaire). Johnny Brick continues as bar code administrator.

Kudos are also sent to Steve Garvan (http://www.garvanmanagement.com) and to Alex Teitz (http://www.femmusic.com) for their sharp eyes in contributing so many articles pertaining to the business of music. Your help is really appreciated, too.

Financially we continue to meet our budget needs. There are so many members to thank for their continued support and I’m afraid I’ll miss someone so I am not going to start naming our wonderful musician and music-supporter friends. However, in total support of them here are local music-related businesses that continue to support COMBO, too:
● Performance High (Adrienne O)
● Stewart, Shortridge & Fitzke, P.C. (Scott Fitzke, Esq.)(Entertainment Law Attorneys)
● Lake Law Group, L.L.C. (Ryan Lake, Esq.) (Entertainment Law Attorney)
● American Classic Piano (piano sales, refurbishing, tuning, and more)
● Macy Sound Studios (John Macy)
● Mojo’s Music Academy (Longmont)
● Mulinjer L.L.C. (Bradlee Marrick) (Music licensing, management, and more)
● SoundTown (off Alameda & I-25) (Music instrument sales & rentals)
● Riot Fest!

My apologies if I missed a regular business contributor. Your help is sincerely appreciated and we encourage all musicians to support your businesses.

We also send a big THANK YOU to our former board members who have helped to make COMBO one of the strongest and biggest music associations in Colorado. Founded by Dolly Zander, David Barber, Scott Taylor, Paul Epstein, and so many others in 1999, these people have helped to lift the organization up and to make it run ever forward.

We also held our Third Annual Songwriting Contest. We give a LOT of thanks to our judges but we keep them incognito for various reasons but, believe us, you have some very knowledgeable people who serve as judges. Our winners were Rich Owen, Joel Ashmore, Caitlin Powell, Rachel Alena, Alec Sims, Kyle Comerford, Vince Carmellini, Jeffrey Dallet, Sidney Powell, Richie Allen Buchborn, Charles Cavanaugh, James Dickson, John Bunzli, Steve Law, Nicole Unser, Tyler Jordan, Marni Green, Harold Rapp, III, Amy Humphreys Kress, Michael Aldridge, Robby Roberts, and Laurie Dameron.

And last, but certainly not least, THANK YOU to our guest speakers and panelists this past year: Ashesh Dangol, Nepal; Kareem Hosem, Egypt; Nate Hamon, Australia; Ricardo Vallejos, Dubai UAE; Duncan Webb, UK; Merethe Soltvedt, Norway; Alejandro Parra, Venezuela; David DiManna (Denver Loft Sessions); Eddie Panklang and Nararat Varinm, Thailand; Chris Kresge; Andy Ard; Katey Laurel; and Dick Weissman.
