By Gibson Johns, In The Know | It’s official: Billie Eilish will sing the next James Bond theme.
On Tuesday morning [01/14/20], the singer confirmed on social media that she’s written the theme for the upcoming Daniel Craig-starring film, No Time To Die. Her brother and frequent collaborator, Finneas, helped her write the track.

The title track, set to be released by Darkroom/Interscope Records, is one of the most coveted gigs in music and, at 18 years old, Eilish has become the youngest artist in history to write and record a theme song for the action franchise.

“It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way,” Eilish said in a statement. “To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock.”

“Writing the theme song for a Bond film is something we’ve been dreaming about doing our entire lives,” her brother added. “There is no more iconic pairing of music and cinema than the likes of Goldfinger and Live And Let Die. We feel so so lucky to play a small role in such a legendary franchise, long live 007.”

Before Eilish was confirmed to be singing the upcoming James Bond theme, it had been rumored that Beyoncé was in contention for the track.

The most recent two themes — “Writing’s on the Wall” by Sam Smith from Spectre and “Skyfall” by Adele from Skyfall — both won Best Original Song at the Academy Awards.

No Time To Die hits theaters in the United States on April 10, 2020. Legendary composer Hans Zimmer will compose the score.
