Submissions for the IAP’s “Best CDs of 2016” Awards must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2016. A cash award of $250 will be awarded for the 2016 Album of the Year (see the information below).

Who Is The IAP… Indie Acoustic Project is the non-profit that presents the awards.

…and what do they want? To recognize and promote outstanding works of innovative independent music, and the artists who create them.

What Qualifies: Any CD that has been released in 2016 by any artist or independent
record label** anywhere in the world, that has at least one
acoustic instrument on at least one track.

Deadline: submissions must be postmarked by December 31, 2016. (For digital-only releases, a CD Baby download coupon must be emailed by December 31, 2016).

Is there a cash award? Yes. One CD selected from among the winners will receive the Album of the Year Award, and a $250 cash prize.

THE DETAILS
What qualifies: any full-length (24 minutes or longer) CD that: (1) has at least some acoustic content, and (2) has been (or will have been) released for sale to the public during 2016 by any entity other than a major record label.

**CDs released by a subsidiary label owned by a major label, or CDs or released by a non-major but distributed by a major label do qualify for consideration, as do recordings that feature electric or electronic instrumentation in addition to acoustic instrumentation. Current categories are: Acoustic Ensemble, Alt-Country, Alternative Rock, Americana, Best Lyrics, Celtic, Instrumental, Latin, Multi-Genre, Progressive Edge, Rock, Roots, Singer-Songwriter, World Beat, and World Music.

The goal of the IAP Awards is to generate increased awareness of independent artists and record companies by promoting and recognizing outstanding innovative works of independently produced acoustic music from around the world. As always, there is no charge of any kind for any aspect of the IAP Awards.

Applicants can send one CD per title for as many titles as they wish to have considered, along with an email contact to:

For those who have released a digital-only album: submit by emailing a CD Baby download card to jon@indieacoustic.com, along with a contact email address. For now, this is the only means we have of accepting digital-only recordings.
