Hard to believe that THIS salad bowl can become a cool speaker for your stereo system!

The 5th Annual Colorado Blues Society Members Choice Awards (The Holley Awards, named for Colorado legendary bluesman Creighton Holley) are right around the corner. But First we need your help! Anyone can nominate the candidates for the MCA ballot. CBS members as well as non-CBS members can nominate their favorites in over 30 categories. Once the nomination period is over, we will make an announcement that the Final Ballot is online for CBS members online to vote for their favorites.

All nominations will be used on the Final Ballot (except in a few cases were nominees do not wish to participate). Also keep in mind we are honoring our Colorado Favorites only, except in a few categories (Favorite live moment and Favorite National Performer) so don’t be nominating Jeff Beck or Buddy as Favorite Guitarist, tho they could be your Favorite Live Moment this year. Got it?

He Took Some Salad Bowls And Turned Them Into Something For Your Sound System

After Reddit user Teredo had to get rid of his old tower speakers because of his three cats, he set out to find something that was much smaller and lighter, but would still meet his listening needs. With no luck, he stumbled upon a DIY audio technology forum and found a project that he wanted to try out for himself.

It should come as no surprise that the first step in building his very own speaker system included a quick shopping trip to…IKEA? That’s right, Teredo was able to transform four salad bowls from the Swedish furniture store into an awesome pair of stereo speakers.

To make a pair of speakers, Teredo needed two bowls for each one, costing him about $11 per bowl.
