Greetings Jambers! Registration is open for the Colorado Performing Arts Jamboree and The Guide to Colorado Performers 2017. The Colorado Performing Arts Jamboree, our annual trade show and booking conference, will be Friday, January 20, 2017, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Jeffco Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall, 15200 West 6th Avenue, Golden CO 80401.

Registration materials are posted on the Venture West website:

along with explanatory verbiage to lead you through the process. If you have questions call or send a note.

This is a year that we publish and distribute The Guide to Colorado Performers. Being in the Guide is the most important part of the Jamboree. The Guide lasts nearly forever and the software to use it is available to anyone who got through third grade. Even with the plethora of online information about performers, Colorado presenters know and rely on the printed Guide.

So Get listed! Get gigs!

The “Brief Description of your Act” section is added to encourage you to give us something to advertise about your group – think “informative” if you put something there: mention your Grammy nominations; your number of days touring last year; the tv, internet, and movie credits; or the philosophical point of view that informs your work; what about your career in arts and entertainment makes it worth the effort. That sort of thing.

In addition to getting listed and registering to attend, you may also want to consider being a sponsor. Sponsorships cost $600. Sponsors have benefits! These include: A full page ad in the Guide (premium placement on the covers), logo on the Jamboree web pages – hot-linked to your website, and some kind of special treatment at the Jamboree – some special visibility in the exhibit hall.

Call or send a note to discuss the possibilities!

I have produced the Jamboree since 1988 because I believe face to face communication is critical to building ensemble in the performing arts. Most contact between artists and presenters is formulaic – promo packs and demo disks have a sameness; rejection letters and contracts are both pulled from last year’s folder on the computer. But when a presenter sees the animation of a performer talking about their work or when an artist hears a presenter talk about the people she hopes to entertain, they can begin to create something together. The Jamboree is where we get the actual face time to do that creating.

The process of modernizing to have all registration and payment on line has gotten us off to the latest start in years, so please help by getting your registration in as soon as possible and making an extra effort to “like” us in real life – encourage your colleagues to Get Listed! The larger the Guide is, the better it works: It is a more complete resource for buyers (so they use it more often), and the broader participation generates revenue which can be used for broader distribution of the Guide around the region (so more buyers have the chance to use it).

As always, call or send a note with questions! Looking forward to seeing all of you at the Fairgrounds again on January 20th.
