Thoughts and Prayers|

We’re asking for prayers for the victims and their families of the mass shooting in San Bernardino – especially for the survivors and their loved ones as they deal with the recovery from bullet wounds and, harder, the emotional wounds that take so much longer to heal [as our soldiers know]. But let’s also pray for those people who are thinking about doing something similar. These people need our love and understanding and comfort as well because, for unknown reasons, they, too, feel bullied or alone or unwanted or unneeded. Take a look around you and reach out to those “loners” who may need a friend – you could be the friend who saves at least one life [suicide is also on this list].

Update on Pattie Kresge’s Health

Pattie reports that she has undergone her first chemotherapy treatments and is doing as well as can be expected. She has lost her hair but has gained a whole bunch of new hats! One of them was crocheted for her by a friend from some yarn that Pattie’s late mother had – which gave Pattie some wonderful memories and a warm and stylish head!

We’re asking for prayers for Pattie’s safe recovery and wellness.

Also, Pattie is taking lemons and making lemonade – she’s writing songs to while her time away… She posted this on Facebook 12/09/15:

So I wrote this when a crazy lady in Home Depot decided to go after a shoplifter with her concealed weapon … the whole song is satire … so do not take it too seriously …

Verse 1
I need to buy a gun today
Before it’s not my right
I need to carry all the time
In case I have to fight
There are no laws protecting me
The damage has been done
I am scared to death of parking lots
So now I need a gun!

Chorus
So join me at the gun store
Support the NRA
Make sure you get some ammo
And don’t forget to pay
Cause if you try to walk outside
There’s a chance you won’t return
Cause the lady in the parking lot
Can’t shoot but she might learn

Verse 2
There used to be a time we stood
For Peace and Love, not war
But the circle that was broken
Won’t be unbroken like before
If we don’t wise up and figure out
There needs to be some rules
Before Home Depot Parking Lots
Are filled with those dead fools

CHORUS
Verse 3
So how am I supposed to know
The good guys from the bad
So far it’s just Home Depot
But it could get real sad
There’s Target and there’s Walmart
Lowe’s and the grocery store
So it’s Amazon dot com
I won’t go out anymore.

[Kind of sad song, you know – so with the times…]

Nick Alexander – Paris Theater Shooting Victim – Memorial Fund

[Nick was the merchandise manager for the Eagles of Death Metal Band.]

This is from Nick’s sister to me but should be shared with everyone who has helped donated or supported this great show of love and caring. Thank you all. Miguel

Miguel,

We are overwhelmed with your lovely words. I have read this to my parents and they are so, so happy with the statement so please do put it up on line.

Nick would be so happy with this and the money will be so helpful in organising what is going to be no ordinary funeral or memorial.

We are so grateful to you and everyone who is supporting you and we will be in contact soon.

Thank you again,

Zoe.

About this fund: My initial goal for this fund was to benefit my friend in the most direct way that was calling to me. I personally wanted to help his family. Two things happened: we reached a significant amount quickly, and our extended tour family pointed out a basic rule of the road: we take care of our own, even the ones we don’t personally know.

My role: I am in Los Angeles, CA. I started this because, after 24 hours, I noticed that no one else had, and I wanted to do something that felt productive and positive. I have already spoken with an entertainment attorney who many of you know, and we have already spoken to tax counsel about the best way to set up this fund. It’s a weekend, so we will get more info on this as the week progresses.

If this isn’t the right time for you to make a donation – please know we hear you, we understand.

Today or tonight raise a glass to the memory of Nick Alexander a guy doing a simple job of touring with a band and selling t-shirts going new places and making new friends. Last night, he ended his journey in a small theater in Paris along with many others who’s lives were cut short by hate, by misguided religion, by ignorance.

Here is to you my friend may you and the others from this tragic event find peace…
